Saying that BDO's endgame can only be PvP like WoW's endgame is raiding strikes me as an entirely false equivalence, as the games have very different scopes and very different levels of developer effort put into those aspects of the game. The non-combat components of a game like WoW barely even exist, but in a game like BDO it's front-and-center, to the point where they throw a screen at you pointing out all the options as soon as you hit your first level 50. I suppose in my case it's because the combat in BDO is just a means to an end to me, and I have zero investment in trying to jump into that particular hamster wheel.īut the way the game is split up, it really feels to me like honing in one particular aspect of the game is missing the forest for the trees. The game isn't massively populated, but the last times i've tried it i've been able to find groups to do what I want to do.īlack Desert Online is probably the best MMO combat i've tried of that style, but the structure of it is vastly different from theme park games like WoW and FFXIV.ĮSO is, well, a multiplayer Elder Scrolls game with weaker combat. WildStar is very similar to WoW in game structure, just with more action-y gameplay. Everyone's taste is a bit different and there's no standout great MMO at the moment.Īs far as heavily moving away from hotkey, tab targeted gameplay - Black Desert Online, Blade and Soul, WildStar, Guild Wars 2, Tera and Elder Scrolls Online are the main ones that come to mind. If I were to advise anything OP, I'd say take the titles suggested here and look up gameplay on Youtube or Twitch to see what looks like you could get into it. Wildstar is above average in most areas except story but it's marketing hampered it's playerbase and now it's ghost town barely hanging on. Guild Wars 2 is still fairly WoW-like in tab-to-target and has monetary episodic content blocks and Raiding that suffers from the fact the combat system wasn't designed with it in mind, making it feel like a square hole have a circle peg shoved in it.Įlder Scrolls Online is also somewhat WoW-like with odd graphics, animations that are serviceable at best, and requires a taste and/or tolerance for ES brand of storytelling. I've played everything suggested in the thread so far and while a lot of them meet the general requirements set in the OP, they all have significant caveats.īDO is a grinder with Endgame focused on Mass PvP that's hampered by the fact that it's a fuster cluck.īlade and Soul and Tera both require specific taste and/or tolerance.įFXIV is completely WoW-like but more tedious and also requires a taste and/or tolerance for FF's brand of storytelling.
